Dresden tour with paddle steam boat trip on the river Elbe*.

This Dresden tour is a very special experience. You will see Dresden from many surprising perspectives and use 3 different means of transport on your way.

From the historic old town you embark on a paddle steamer cruise. On this historic steamboat you have an especially magnificent view to the buildings of the old town, the famous Elbe palaces, the vineyards and the elegant residential villas, accompanied by your Dresden guide.

A paddle steamer trip with the Sächsische Dampfschifffahrt gives you romantic landscape and a breeze around your nose, elegantly sliding past the most beautiful views of the city and its singularly beautiful surroundings. This is a special kind of city tour!

At Blasewitz we berth in the midst of Dresden’s most beautiful villa district. On a leisurely walk we cross the famous “Blue Wonder”, our most beloved historical bridge, and stroll through the romantic fishing village Loschwitz situated directly at the river.

From this place we are aiming high: We take the historical funicular, one of Dresden’s mountain railways, up to a district called “The white Stag” (Der weiße Hirsch). This area housed one of the most exclusive health resorts of the 19th century. You can still feel the atmosphere of the elegant spa in the lavish villas and the lush gardens.

After that we travel by tram into Dresden Neustadt where we will take a coffee break at Pfund’s Dairy. This place is deemed “the most beautiful dairy shop of the world” by Guinness’ Book of Records. Here we will have a cup of coffee and a slice of Eierschecke, the famous Dresden cake speciality.

After the coffee break we return to the old town by tram. – Upon request we can also arrange a bus transfer.

The dense forests with an abundance of game in the middle of a lovely pond landscape were perfect for the hunting activities of the court. Situated on an artificial island Moritzburg Palace marks the center of these historical hunting grounds – it is one of baroque’s most beautiful treasures.

Moritzburg is only a short drive away from Dresden.

You will have a guided tour through the lavish park around the palace in the picturesque setting of the Moritzburg pond landscape. You will hear exciting and funny stories about the hunting activities of the court, the sumptuous dinners and other good and bad habits of baroque times. Moritzburg is also the filming location for the popular Christmas movie “Three wishes for Cinderella”, and maybe you’ll find the famous lost shoe here. In 2019 Moritzburg Palace was also a major shooting location for the film “Charlie’s Angels”.

The exhibition in the palace boasts rare and priceless leather tapestry, vast quantities of hunting trophies, escpecially rare antlers from all over the world.

The royal bedchamber is absolutely unique: The bed and the tapestries are made of colored bird’s feathers!. The first catholic masses on Saxon soil were held in the baroque chapel.

A short walk brings us to the cosy summer residence, called the Pheasant Palais (Fasanenschlösschen). Right beside this little architectural jewel the next surprise is waiting: There is a lighthouse with a pier – almost like being at the seaside. This place was built as a model of the Dardanelles and was used for playing naval battles for entertainment.

3 Hour trip – Guide’s Fee 225,- Euro
plus admission to the guided tour in the exhibition (on request)

Upon request we can rent a bus, van or taxi for you. (Prices differ according to availability and group/vehicle size)

Excursion for indiviual guests or small groups. No bus is needed for this tour.

From Dresden we go by train to Radebeul Station – but then we will change to the historic narrow gauge steam railway, locally nicknamed the Lößnitzdackel (Lößnitz Dachshund). With full steam, but unhurriedly we will puff away through the scenic landscape! The engine is steaming, whistling and smelling like burnt coal – as it was in the olden days. A pleasure almost forgotten in our modern age of transport – but simply unforgettable. A moment of special excitement is when the train crosses the water … and you won’t get wet.

A short walk leads us to Moritzburg Palace, the baroque hunting lodge. Here you will feel like being in a fairy tale yourself, because Moritzburg is also the filming location for the popular Christmas movie “Three wishes for Cinderella”. Maybe you’ll find Cinderella’s famous lost shoe here. You will hear exciting and funny stories about the activities of the court – not always hunting, to be sure – the sumptuous dinners and other good and bad habits of baroque times.

A short individual snack break, and then we will get back to Dresden with the public bus.

One day excursion to Saxon Switzerland (Sächsische Schweiz) for groups with their own bus oder individual guests with a vehicle rented by us.

The romantic bus tour starts along the river Elbe on the Saxon Wine Road to Pillnitz. Vineyards, villas, noble palaces and picturesque wine and fisher’s villages are on the way. Our first stop is the splendid park of Pillnitz palace. Scenically situated at the Elbe river bank you take a stroll through the romantic park with a multitude of rare exotic plants and trees, among them the oldest camellia in Europe. It has a height of about 9 meters and is estimated to be 250 years old. In the center of the park Duke Augustus the Strong built two baroque palaces in the Asian style that you simply have to see to believe.

The tour continues past the renaissance town of Pirna, and soon we arrive at the Elbe Sandstone Mountains and the National Park Saxon Switzerland. Here you will experience a walk over the “Bastei” (bastion) an amazing rock formation towering 194 metres above the Elbe River, which is the landmark of Saxon Switzerland. Here you can enjoy a magnificent view over the unique rock formations in this very unusual mountain area.

Afterwards on a panorama bus tour you will see more of this peerless and wild landscape with bizarre and steep rock formations that seem to grow out of deep green hollows. Past Bad Schandau the drive goes on to the Königstein Fortress. This ancient castle and garrison that is built into a huge rock formation can be reached comfortably by lift and the plateu presents the visitor with a surprising variety of sights. Here you can see 50 buildings, some over 400 years old, that bear witness to the military and civilian life in the fortress. A guided tour shows you the oldest garrison church in Germany, one of the deepest wells in Europe, the most secure historic prison in Saxony, the treasury and much, much more – on top of it, an impressive scenic view over the landscape.

8 hour tour, start and finish in Dresden.
Fee for the Guide 345,- Euro
Admissions are not included in the fee.

The romantic tour starts in Dresden and runs on the Saxon Wine Route along the banks of the river Elbe to Pillnitz and the fascinating landscape of Saxon Switzerland with its bizarre landmarks.

At first, vineyards, villas, noble palaces and picturesque wine and fisher’s villages are on the way. Our first stop is the splendid park of Pillnitz Palace. Scenicly situated at the Elbe river bank you see a multitude of rare exotic plants and trees on a guided walking tour, among them the oldest camellia in Europe. In the center of the park Duke Augustus the Strong built two baroque palaces in the Asian style that you simply have to see to believe.

The next stop is Pirna a beautiful town that enchanted even the famous painter Canaletto. It is dubbed the “Gate to Saxon Switzerland” and you will have a guided walking tour through the pictorial small town with gothic, renaissance and baroque architecture.

Soon afterwards we arrive at the Elbe Sandstone Mountains and the National Park Saxon Switzerland. Here you will experience a walk over the “Bastei” (bastion) an amazing rock formation towering 194 metres above the Elbe River, which is the landmark of Saxon Switzerland. Here you can enjoy a magnificent view over the unique rock formations in this very unusual mountain area.

On the panorama drive you will see more of this peerless and wild landscape with bizarre and steep rock formations that seem to grow out of deep green hollows. After some time the landscape changes, the hills grow softer and greener. On a basalt mountain the landmark of this area comes into view: The mighty tower ruins of Castle Stolpen. The former bishop’s palace became the prison of Countess Cosel, the famous mistress of Duke Augustus the Strong. You will see her lodgings in Cosel Tower, where her tragic fate ended, a 84 m deep basalt well, the torture chamber and maybe meet the Castle ghost of Stolpen.

From Stolpen the bus takes you back to Dresden.

6-8 hour excursion, start and finish in Dresden – Guide’s Fee 345,- Euro

Upon request we can rent a bus, van or taxi for you. (Prices differ according to availability and group/vehicle size)

One day excursion including:
Sightseeing tour Dresden and Meissen and guided tour of the Porcelain Manufactory Meissen (Erlebniswelt HAUS MEISSEN®).

For groups with their own bus oder individual guests with a vehicle rented by us.

On the walking tour through the Historic Old Town of Dresden you will see the most important and world famous sights. We will visit the baroque Zwinger Palace where the nobility used to have exuberant feasts, the Royal Palace which shows us the beauty of renaissance times. The Theater Square with the Semper Opera reminds us of Dresden’s importance as a metropolis of music and opera. You will also see two highlights of Christian architecture: The Frauenkirche and the Cathedral.

But long before Dresden even became a city, everything started in Meissen. That’s why the town was dubbed “The Cradle of Saxony”. After the walk through Dresden we will go by bus through the picturesque Elbe valley with its vineyards and castles and arrive in Meissen for a walking tour.

In Meissen you will experience a very ancient old town with its typical narrow alleys and enchanting buildings from medieval and renaissance times. On a walk through Meissen you would think that time has stood still. This historic treasure is nestled up against the steep castle hill with the imposing gothic cathedral over the wide curve of the river Elbe. From up there you have a unique view over the scenic landscape with vineyards, the river and a maze of red roofed burgher houses. Enthroned above it all are the cathedral and the Albrechtsburg. It is regarded as being the first castle to be used as a royal residence in the German-speaking world. Here Europe’s first porcelain manufactory was founded. We will visit its present site after a short walk of 20 minutes, or comfortably by bus.

Bus and Walking Tour combined

This tour is very popular, because it allows you to experience a lot of Dresden in a short time.

It consists of a walking tour through Dresden’s Historic Old Town and a driving tour by bus (either on your own bus or one we’ll rent for you)

The walking tour comprises all the famous sights of the Old Town: the baroque Zwinger, Semper Opera House, the Frauenkirche and many more.

After that we explore the surroundings by bus.
There we find elegant residential houses and villas, the romantic river landscape at the Elbe with its broad meadows, vineyards and splendid architecture. Three palaces in a beautiful vineyard bear witness to the exciting history of the people who lived there. We drive over the historic bridge “The Blue Wonder” and see a cosy village on the other side of the river. The tour includes a stop at “Pfund’s Dairy” which was named by the Guinness Book of Records “the most beautiful dairy shop in the world”. Of course, the final highlight of the tour is the Baroque Quarters Inner Neustadt.

For small groups without a bus – your exclusive city tour!

This city tour is just for you with your own city guide. We can individually pick and visit all the sights you really want to see.

And here’s how it works:
For 1-3 persons I will rent a taxi for you, a taxibus would be necessary for up to 7 persons. For more people we would choose between buses of different sizes. The combined price depends on the kind of vehicle we need. My fee, to be sure, stays the same for the booked amount of time

I accompany you, show you the most beautiful places in Dresden and the surroundings and tell you their fascinating history.

This tour is perfect for:
Individual travel groups, family or corporate celebrations and other festive events.

A unique present for a special occasion
