"Experience Dresden on land, on water and from the air"

Dresden tour with paddle steam boat trip on the river Elbe*.

This Dresden tour is a very special experience. You will see Dresden from many surprising perspectives and use 3 different means of transport on your way.

From the historic old town you embark on a paddle steamer cruise. On this historic steamboat you have an especially magnificent view to the buildings of the old town, the famous Elbe palaces, the vineyards and the elegant residential villas, accompanied by your Dresden guide.

A paddle steamer trip with the Sächsische Dampfschifffahrt gives you romantic landscape and a breeze around your nose, elegantly sliding past the most beautiful views of the city and its singularly beautiful surroundings. This is a special kind of city tour!

At Blasewitz we berth in the midst of Dresden’s most beautiful villa district. On a leisurely walk we cross the famous “Blue Wonder”, our most beloved historical bridge, and stroll through the romantic fishing village Loschwitz situated directly at the river.

From this place we are aiming high: We take the historical funicular, one of Dresden’s  mountain railways, up to a district called “The white Stag” (Der weiße Hirsch). This area housed one of the most exclusive health resorts of the 19th century. You can still feel the atmosphere of the elegant spa in the lavish villas and the lush gardens.

After that we travel by tram into Dresden Neustadt where we will take a coffee break at Pfund’s Dairy. This place is deemed “the most beautiful dairy shop of the world” by Guinness’ Book of Records. Here we will have a cup of coffee and a slice of Eierschecke, the famous Dresden cake speciality.

After the coffee break we return to the old town by tram. – Upon request we can also arrange a bus transfer.

"Radebeul – Moritzburg: Nostalgic ride on the Narrow-Gauge Railway"

Excursion for indiviual guests or small groups. No bus is needed for this tour.

From Dresden we go by train to Radebeul Station – but then we will change to the historic narrow gauge steam railway, locally nicknamed the Lößnitzdackel (Lößnitz Dachshund). With full steam, but unhurriedly we will puff away through the scenic landscape! The engine is steaming, whistling and smelling like burnt coal – as it was in the olden days. A pleasure almost forgotten in our modern age of transport – but simply unforgettable. A moment of special excitement is when the train crosses the water … and you won’t get wet.

A short walk leads us to Moritzburg Palace, the baroque hunting lodge. Here you will feel like being in a fairy tale yourself, because Moritzburg is also the filming location for the popular Christmas movie “Three wishes for Cinderella”. Maybe you’ll find Cinderella’s famous lost shoe here. In 2019 Moritzburg palace was also a major shooting location for the film “Charlie’s Angels”.

You will have a guided tour through the lavish park around the palace in the picturesque setting of the Moritzburg pond landscape. You will hear exciting and funny stories about the activities of the court – not always hunting, to be sure – the sumptuous dinners and other good and bad habits of baroque times.

"Dresden – Saxon Switzerland: Pillnitz – Bastei – Königstein Fortress"

One day excursion to Saxon Switzerland (Sächsische Schweiz) for groups with their own bus oder individual guests with a vehicle rented by us.

The romantic bus tour starts along the river Elbe on the Saxon Wine Road to Pillnitz. Vineyards, villas, noble palaces and picturesque wine and fisher’s villages are on the way. Our first stop is the splendid park of Pillnitz palace. Scenically situated at the Elbe river bank you take a stroll through the romantic park with a multitude of rare exotic plants and trees, among them the oldest camellia in Europe. It has a height of about 9 meters  and is estimated to be 250 years old. In the center of the park Duke Augustus the Strong built two baroque palaces in the Asian style that you simply have to see to believe.

The tour continues past the renaissance town of Pirna, and soon we arrive at the Elbe Sandstone Mountains and the National Park Saxon Switzerland. Here you will experience a walk over the “Bastei” (bastion) an amazing rock formation towering 194 metres above the Elbe River, which is the landmark of Saxon Switzerland. Here you can enjoy a magnificent view over the unique rock formations in this very unusual mountain area.

Afterwards on a panorama bus tour you will see more of this peerless and wild landscape with bizarre and steep rock formations that seem to grow out of deep green hollows. Past Bad Schandau the drive goes on to the  Königstein Fortress. This ancient castle and garrison that is built into a huge rock formation can be reached comfortably by lift and the plateu presents the visitor with a surprising variety of sights. Here you can see 50 buildings, some over 400 years old, that bear witness to the military and civilian life in the fortress. A guided tour shows you the oldest garrison church in Germany, one of the deepest wells in Europe, the most secure historic prison in Saxony, the treasury and much, much more – on top of it, an impressive scenic view over the landscape.
